Max Verstappen has been left in utter disbelief after witnessing the shocking video of fans burning Lewis Hamilton’s merchandise during the Hungarian Grand Prix.

On Friday, a video went viral on social media in which a particular Max Verstappen fan was seen burning a Mercedes Cap in the stands and this has not sat well with the 2021 World Champion.

The shocking moment was caught on camera and while dismissing the actions Verstappen said, “That’s of course not acceptable.”

I mean, these individuals… No, I definitely don’t agree with that because that’s just disgusting.”

But overall, I think the majority of the fans which also were cheering a lot, I think throughout the race and also on the podium for every driver, I think that’s how it should be.

And yeah, those videos, or video, of burning merch I think that’s disgusting.”

The Hungary incident is just one of many that have taken place this season and no one can forget the disturbing scenes that were seen during Red Bull’s home Grand Prix in Austria.

Considering the behavior that some fans have shown this season, F1 recently came up with the “Drive it Out” campaign to show their displeasure against all kinds of abuse.

F1 has come out with a video message that includes all the 20 drivers and also F1 CEO Stefano Domenicali and FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem.

Moreover, in a public statement, F1 has said, “We are all sending a clear message that this isn’t acceptable and must end – and those that continue to spread abuse and offensive comments are not welcome in our sport.”

Just like most sane fans of the sport, the F1 drives are also not happy with the situation and have asked the FIA to impose lifetime bans on spectators who intend to spread abuse.

Sergio Perez while talking about the same said, “They don’t represent us as a sport, they don’t share our values and they’re not welcome here. As simple as that.”

Toto Wolff also made his displeasure known and asked the abusive fans to f**k off.

We just need to target these guys and pick them out and say ‘you.’ This is what Formula 1 has said and we have said and that you need to report to the security if you can.”

And whoever reads my sentence: stay away, we don’t want you if you are part of that group.”

Moreover, Sebastian Vettel said, “Whoever these people are, they should be ashamed of themselves and they should be banned from racing events for their lives.”

I think there should be zero tolerance. If people have a good time and drink too much that’s OK, but it doesn’t justify or excuse wrong behavior. We race as one, so, the fans are a part of that.”

Formula One has become extremely toxic ever since last year’s nerve-wracking battle between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen as during 2021 the hate among the fans reached a level that was never before seen in the sport.

After looking at what has happened so far in the current season, it seems that fans have become more and more inconsiderate about people’s feelings and the way things are happening, it is going to continue unless F1 takes definitive steps that would force fans to think twice before doing something that is not ethical.
