Max Verstappen rubbishes ‘Bulls**t comments’ about Red Bull developing cars that suit his driving style

Max Verstappen has been unstoppable in 2023 so far. The Dutch driver has dominated the sport since the ground-effect F1 era in 2022. However, Verstappen’s teammate Sergio Perez has often failed to match the two-time world champion. Now, the 25-year-old has ended allegations about Red Bull focusing car development around him.
Previously, experts and critics, including Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff, have claimed that Red Bull builds the car around Max Verstappen. This is often viewed as the reason for the Dutchman’s teammates failing to deliver expected results. The two-time world champion made it clear that such allegations are simply baseless. He said, “Bulls**t comments. It’s not like that.”
Verstappen reaffirmed that he tried to extract pace out of the car. The 25-year-old insisted that he does not ask the Milton Keynes-based team to adjust the car to meet his demands. The reigning world champion attempts to make the most of the machinery. The Dutchman explained, as reported by Motorsports.com, “I just drive the car I get to the fastest way possible. I’m not there to tell the guys to give me more front end, because that’s how I like it.”

Max Verstappen adapts his driving style to his car

The defending world champion mentioned that he simply asked Red Bull to make the car as quick as possible. From then on, Max Verstappen tries to understand the machinery and adapt his style to get the most out of the car. The Dutch driver informed viewers that he has no driving style in particular. The 25-year-old has raced in F1 for many years now, with all cars handling differently.
The Red Bull driver said, “People will say what is your driving style? My driving style is not something particular, I adapt to what I need for the car to go quickly.” The 25-year-old pointed out that fans do not understand the hard work put in at Milton Keynes that has led to Verstappen’s dominance in the last two seasons. The Dutch driver praised his team for this effort.
Thus, Max Verstappen has reaffirmed that Red Bull does not cater to his driving style regarding car development. The two-time world champion insisted that he tries to adapt to the car that he is given every year. As such, it seems that Verstappen’s skills in getting to grips with every challenger is what has allowed him to outperform his teammates in the past few years.
