Max Verstappen has won 12 out of 14 races so far this season with Red Bull. However, Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff has not taken Verstappen’s success well in recent weeks. Now, the two-time world champion has slammed the Austrian billionaire.
Recently, Wolff was asked about Max Verstappen‘s latest record of the longest winning streak in F1 when the Dutch driver won his tenth race in a row at the Italian GP. The 51-year-old called the record irrelevant and something that was only for Wikipedia. Verstappen believed that the Austrian was not in a good mood after a poor race for the Silver Arrows at Monza.
The Red Bull driver reckoned that Wolff’s comments about the team feel like the 51-year-old is part of the Milton Keynes-based squad. Max Verstappen was also grateful not to have the Mercedes team boss with his team. He told Telegraf.nl, “They had a bad race in Monza, so he was probably still disappointed about that. It sometimes seems as if he is an employee of our team, but fortunately, that is not the case.”

Can Max Verstappen continue his winning streak?

Max Verstappen has managed to exceed expectations in 2023. The Dutch driver broke Sebastian Vettel‘s record at Monza but remains hungry for more. Despite, rivals working extensively on new upgrades to get closer to Red Bull, the RB-19 has remained the fastest car.
Heading into the Singapore Grand Prix, the reigning world champion would be keen to continue his dominant run. The Adrian Newey-designed RB-19 might be the ideal car for this circuit. It also depends on how Verstappen deals with the exceeding humidity of Singapore and the trickiness of the track. The concerns quoted by other drivers as well.

However, the Austrian team might face a challenge in the race if any incidents lead to a safety car or red flag. As such, Verstappen might need to work for a potential eleventh straight victory.
