Max Verstappen, the reigning F1 world champion, has proved to be nothing short of a prodigy since stepping into the extremely competitive world of the pinnacle of motor racing. Verstappen has only gotten better with the passage of time but also has some other creative interests outside of racing in F1 that relate to sim-racing.

When Verstappen is not sparkling his magic over F1 tracks during the summer/winter breaks, he is often seen competing in the sim-racing competitions. He views it as an extremely fierce way of racing and thus sees it as a good idea to create his sim racing team and help people connect with it from all over the world.

While shedding light on the inspiration behind creating his own racing team, he said, as reported by Formel.nl.comIt all started with Team Redline’s sim racing. A lot of people still think that sim racing is not professional, but it is very serious, and I spend a lot of hours getting everything done and trying to beat everyone. When I do something, I want to do it right too. I want to win also with this.”

He said, “And the point is that I can create a stepping stone from sim racing to the GT3 so that you don’t only end up in motorsport via karting because that costs a ridiculous amount of money at the moment. Sim-racing is a lot cheaper compared to karting. And of course, such a switch is possible…I believe that if you approach everything very professionally, you can really build a beautiful motorsport career from sim racing.

Max Verstappen has been sensational in the real world

While Verstappen has a big soft spot for sim racing in his heart, he has been simply sensational in the recent years of F1. In 2021, he was in an intense battle with the lights of the former 7-time F1 world champion, Lewis Hamilton, for the world championship, but since that season, he has dominated the sport with the least of efforts.

Moreover, during this week’s Qatar GP, he is on course to secure his third consecutive title. Such has been the level at which the 26-year-old had operated in the last few years. Under the new era of the sport, he has been almost untouchable; none of his competitors have been able to pose a serious enough challenge in front of him.

Considering that Max Verstappen is still relatively young in comparison to some of the other drivers on the current F1 grid, he has been tipped by several pundits as the driver who could put Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher’s long-standing world championships record in jeopardy. At Red Bull, he has got all the tools at his disposal to have a serious go at the record.
