“Maybe I’ll be racing in the US,” Valtteri Bottas gives us a hint about his career plans after Formula 1
Valtteri Bottas
It’s been a season of humbling for Valtteri Bottas but it has also had it’s perks and benefits. Until last year, the Finn was competing with the most successful team in the hybrid era alongside the person who is statistically the best driver in F1. After a gruelling few seasons with the team, Valtteri decided that it was time for a change. What also followed through with this was the fact that George Russell was patiently waiting to grab his seat.
George Russell was pouncing at every opportunity and just waiting for Toto Wolff to make a deciding between the two drivers for the 2022 Mercedes seat. In the end, Russell got the seat and the news wasn’t announced until Valtteri Bottas secured his future in the sport for 2022 which he did with Alfa Romeo. Now that the news was out, the Finn felt calm and composed and we got to see that side of him.
The main reason behind this must be due to the fact that Bottas was finally done with one year deals as he signed a multi-year deal with Sauber to stay with them until 2024. This give him some job stability whilst also removing the high pressure that is involved with driving for Mercedes. It can be clearly seen in him this season as he makes the best out of the Alfa Romeo beast and aims to take the team to the upper part of the points table. Although he did have some interesting things to say about his future in the sport.
“Indycar is quite interesting,” Valtteri Bottas said when asked about his future in a podcast
The Finn did not hesitate to let people get a hint of his possible career option after his F1 stint gets over. Here is what Valtteri Bottas had to say about his racing options for when his career in this sport comes to a stop. “Maybe I’ll be racing in the U.S…..INDYCAR is quite interesting…. the tracks are nice, the racing seems really real… it seems like it’s been gaining popularity, at least in Europe. Let’s see.”
Being currently placed 10th in the driver’s standings, Valtteri Bottas tackles every race with the mere aim of scoring a few points for his team that is evidently mid level at the best. However that has given him more freedom when it comes to team decisions and more authority looking back at where he has come from. There is also the pressure factor. It’s drastically less compared to his last employer. However we now know where the Finn will go after his glorious career in the pinnacle of motorsport comes to an end.
