The fifth Formula One team to announce the unveiling date for their new vehicle is McLaren. Before this, AlphaTauri (February 11), Aston Martin (February 13), Ferrari (February 14), and Alpine (February 16) had come out with their dates. The debut date of the 2023 car was revealed by the McLaren team. On February 13, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastris new vehicle will be seen by the fans. Despite the Woking-based team’s lack of confirmation, it is assumed that the car will be called MCL37. It’s unclear when the 2023 F1 beast will be showcased to the public. It’s possible that the British racing stable will choose to live stream the full presentation.

For the third consecutive season, McLaren will utilize Mercedes engines. With 159 points at the conclusion of the 2022 season, McLaren was ranked fifth in the F1 Constructors’ Championship. For two seasons in a row, their final standing was worse than the previous one. Hopefully, the 2023 season will see McLaren ranked higher with the MCL37 and the updated drivers’ lineup.

McLaren’s 2022 debut

McLaren announced the new car’s debut with a sublime tweet. McLaren’s tweet was enough for the Formula 1 enthusiast to be on the edge of their seats. Given that McLaren’s main goal for 2022 was to close the gap with the top teams, the papaya team didn’t live up to ambitions. McLaren placed fourth in the constructors’ standings in 2021, 48.5 points behind Ferrari, who did not compete for the championship that year. McLaren has slipped to fifth place in the standings this season. They were 356 points behind third-place Mercedes and 14 points behind their nearest competitor, Alpine. Soon fans will see the changes the team has incorporated to climb up in the constructor’s championship.

A lot of fans speculated that Mclaren car’s were built around Lando Norris and his skillset as their previous driver Daniel Ricciardo was visibly struggling with the car in the 2022 season. The 2023 season will expect the car to not just fit Norris but their new Aussie driver Oscar Piastri.

The 2023 season holds some big challenges for McLaren as they had missed out on the fourth place in the Constructors’ World Championship standings last year. With a new lineup of Piastri and Norris to power them up and changed leadership as well, it is expected that the team will display some spark in their performance right from the start of the season.
