Lando Norris has been competing at the pinnacle of motor racing for several years. With each passing season, he has gone from strength to strength, and ahead of the upcoming F1 campaign, McLaren has admitted that their driver is ready to win.

Lando Norris, despite being only 24 years old, is one of the most highly-rated drivers on the current F1 grid. Some of the pundits, even see him in the same light as that of the reigning world champion, Max Verstappen.

McLaren’s team principal, Andrea Stella, while talking about Norris, recently said, as reported by The Guardian:

The first victory is always the most important, then things come slightly easier. The main reason this has not been possible is because we have not put Lando in the position to consistently compete for a victory. He is ready for that, it’s more about us being ready in delivering the car that allows him to take the opportunities.

Looking at the reaction of Stella, it is quite clear that McLaren has its full backing behind Lando Norris this year. Moreover, they have admitted that since the time Norris has been with them, they have just not been able to present him with a potent car. They have no doubts about his capabilities and thus, genuinely believe that he has the caliber to score Grand Prix wins in F1.

Lando Norris had a sensational 2023 F1 season

While McLaren feels Norris can score a win this year, much of the faith behind this has stemmed from how he performed during the 2023 F1 season. The young Brit finished in sixth place in the drivers’ standings behind Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc.

He managed to amass a brilliant seven podium finishes and was also, able to put on board 205 points. Norris was one of the stand-out performers of last year’s campaign and he also played a crucial role in bringing his then rookie teammate, Oscar Piastri, up to speed with everything.

Lando Norris has several years ahead of him but when it comes to 2024, he is going to be the man that people will have their eyes on! He is on an upward trajectory and the chances of him scoring a win this year are very high.
