Mercedes was recently dealt with the huge blow of losing Lewis Hamilton to their arch-rivals Ferrari. However, the team have now moved on from that and has joined hands with the messenger giant Whatsapp. The team has developed a new way to integrate brand collaboration, and has been the talk of the town.

Before the onset of the 2024 season, the meta-owned company entered into a collaboration with the former champions. This partnership has increased the total number of sponsors that the Silver Arrows have to 20. The Brackley-based team found an intuitive idea for this collaboration and has amazed the F1 world.

McLaren had earlier collaborated with Google Chrome and they had included displays around the headrest, which had captured eyes across the paddock. As for Mercedes and their partnership with WhatsApp, it is understood that the American firm would be provided with exclusive content for their ‘channels’ feature amid the brand collaboration. Following this, George Russell and Lewis Hamilton would be using the ‘Whatsapp’ feature on their wheels to talk to their colleagues on the pitwall.

How did fans react to Mercedes’s cheeky innovation?

The push-to-talk button has now turned to the Whatsapp button on the Mercedes W15’s steering wheels. This clever integration of Mercedes’s sponsor has impressed the fans since many have said the team is getting up to speed with the modern social media scene through their new WhatsApp sponsorship.

The WhatsApp X Mercedes collaboration only goes to show how Formula 1 is taking on a whole new level of importance in the US. Tech giants like Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta (the parent company that owns WhatsApp), are now taking attention and investing their time and money into the different F1 teams.

In other news, it has already been reported that the Silver Arrows would be focusing on the 2024 challenger and making the most out of the season before bidding farewell to their star driver. The W15 is being prepared for the pre-season testing scheduled in Bahrain just a few days later.
