Only five races have been held for the current F1 2023 season, and the Red Bull Racing team have already established their supremacy surpassing all their rivals. Their RB-19 has shown excellent straught-line speed, and many members of the other teams have accepted there is no use trying to fight Red Bull as the Constructors’ title is almost definitely going to Milton-Keynes at the end of this year.

Even though Red Bull have proven to be above and beyond any challenges from their rival teams, there is an internal battle going on inside them. Their two racers, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, are only 14 points apart from each other, and they have both vowed to secure the 2023 Championship trophy for themselves. This has led to some clashes between the teammates, and Christian Horner has also claimed his team will not stop its racers from competing as long as they keep it a healthy contest.

On the other hand, Mercedes are struggling to make sure their W14 is competent enough to at least stay in the top 3 on the charts this season. At such a time, the Brackley outfit cannot afford any rivalry between their own drivers as their trackside engineering director Andrew Shovlin believes internal warfare can drag them down. Hence, he thanked Lewis Hamilton and George Russell for putting the team first and their own Championship musings second as the two have cooperated and never indulged in any ugly fight with each other.

At the Miami GP, Lewis Hamilton had a horrible outing as he scored a 13th-place-start and went on to secure a sixth-spot finish. But George Russell had more pace than his veteran teammate that day because of his tire choice. Thus, a time came when the team decided Lewis should let George pass so that the young Briton can climb up the rankings and bring as many points for the team as possible. George ended his run in Miami in the 4th place.

Applauding Lewis Hamilton for making way for George without any protest, Andrew Shovlin said, “Whether it’s seeing them cooperating on track or cooperating in the office trying to solve problems by trying to share information that helps us to develop, it is really useful that the two of them are focused on getting our car to a level where we can fight for wins, can fight for championships, and not worrying too much now about the fight between themselves.

The next Grand Prix is only a week away as the Ferrari squad are gearing up for their home race in Imola. Mercedes has already revealed they have some big upgrades up their sleeves which are expected to amp up the W14’s performance in some ways. Now, it remains to be seen if Lewis Hamilton manages to perfect his drive in Imola to get yet another podium finish like he did in Australia or if he will falter once again and fail to break into the top 5 like he did in Miami.
