Mika Hakkinen, the former 2-time F1 World Champion, has made it known that Max Verstappen could face extreme competition at the pinnacle of motor racing in upcoming years. He believes that while Verstappen has done exceptionally well, the new generation of F1 drivers could end his dominance in the sport.

Max Verstappen has won the F1 World Championship for two consecutive seasons. Still, despite this fact, Mika Hakkinen while warning the Dutchman, said, “Max is currently much further than the competitors, but the question is: who can do it better? You always wonder if someone gets better.

Michael Schumacher won seven championships, Lewis Hamilton also seven, but who can do better? There is always someone new coming. I see how the future drivers are doing: their know-how is unbelievable. You no longer just have to grab the wheel and accelerate, but the talent in your brain continues to develop.”

While Mika Hakkinen has claimed that Max Verstappen could get outperformed by young F1 drivers in the upcoming years, he has not held back from praising what Verstappen has managed to do so far in his F1 career. “If you look at Verstappen’s history, where he comes from, and what his training has been… now his training is done and he is a fantastic driver.”

He was already performing at an incredibly high level before F1. He didn’t come into F1, thinking: ‘Here I can become a good driver’, because he was before that. Max is incredibly talented and understands the technical aspects and also the teamwork. He has the guts to put pressure on his team so they can build him a good car.

Mika Hakkinen, during his racing days, was an extremely aggressive driver, and he is pleased with how Max Verstappen can put pressure on his team to set up the car, according to him, without any hesitation. He has been in scintillating form in the recent F1 campaigns, and considering this fact, it would be fascinating to see how he would perform in the sport in the next 3-4 years.
