Aston Martin had an amazing beginning, with Fernando Alonso earning six podium finishes in the first eight races. However, their performance dropped before the summer break. Luckily, they introduced an upgrade – a new floor – at Zandvoort. This change worked wonders and brought back their previous success. Team principal Mike Krack was praised for Alonso’s outstanding driving during the Dutch GP.
Mike Krack mentioned that it was great how Alonso remained in control throughout the race. He shared that Fernando Alonso always managed the situations, especially in challenging conditions, to stay on track. Krack highlighted that there were moments where survival was crucial, and Alonso handled them well. Krack added that if a chance to pass Max Verstappen had come up towards the end, the Spaniard Alonso would have attempted it.
“The good thing was that he was in control all the time. He was always the master of the situation I would say, and this was key obviously also in such conditions to never go off. At the end, if the opportunity would have been there [to pass Verstappen], he would have tried,” Mike Krack stated, according to Autosport.
