Fernando Alonso is the oldest driver on the F1 grid. The two-time world champion made his debut in the sport way back in 2001 with Minardi. The 42-year-old has continued to impress the paddock with some stunning drives, including his upturn in fortunes with Aston Martin. Aston Martin Team Principal Mike Krack praised Alonso as a fantastic athlete and performer.
Krack admitted that Fernando Alonso’s performances were on a level like he had never seen before in his career. The 51-year-old claimed that irrespective of age, the Spanish driver was truly in a different league. He told Racefans.com, “What I have seen, I have never seen before. With any kind of driver – whatever age, whatever kind of category – I’ve never seen anything like that before.”
The Aston Martin team boss was asked if Fernando Alonso was superhuman. The 51-year-old agreed as he believed that the quick reaction times and the incredible fitness of the two-time world champion proved that he was extraordinary. Krack replied, “The reaction times – we always look at it – they are fantastic. It’s just incredible. So it is probably ‘superhuman’, as you mentioned.”

Mike Krack is not bothered by the massive gap between Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll
Fernando Alonso is currently third in the Drivers’ standings after some phenomenal results earlier this year. The two-time world champion has bagged six podiums this season with the last one coming at the Canadian GP. On the other hand, Alonso’s teammate Lance Stroll is ninth in the championship with a gap of 102 points to the Spanish driver.
However, this has not been a cause of concern for Aston Martin. Lance Stroll is the son of the Lawrence Stroll who is the chairman of the British automaker. Although, Krack reaffirmed that the Silverstone-based team was simply trying to score the most points with both cars. He said, “The whole thing is not really weighing on us. We do not look really in detail how many has he scored less than the other driver. For us, we always try to do the best with both.”
Thus, Mike Krack has admitted that Fernando Alonso is no less than a superhuman. The 51-year-old has been deeply impressed by the staggering pace of the Spanish driver despite being the oldest driver on the grid. Although, it remains to be seen if Alonso can use his fitness and talent and achieve more success for the team this season.
