Aston Martin proved itself as one of the most improved outfits during the 2023 F1 season. While the sport is currently at a halt, Aston’s team principal, Mike Krack, has taken the opportunity to talk about the driver pairing of Fernando alonso and Lance Stroll.
Alonso joined the Silverstone-based team from Alpine last year. Following the news, several questions were raised as to how Krack and Co. would handle the former 2-time world champion alongside Stroll.
Surprisingly, during the campaign, there were no firey moments between the two. Mike Krack while talking about his team’s unique driver dynamic, said,
We needed to be aware that both Fernando and Lance had known each other forever – already from the Ferrari times. So when it started, we took the approach that we have to be open, honest, and transparent with both at all times. So, you need to think: what are the dynamics and how are they going to be evolving? As reported by Motorsport
Looking at the reaction of the Luxembourgish, it seems that being honest with both Alonso and Stroll has been decided on by Aston Martin as the way to handle them. Both drivers have completely opposite personalities.
Fernando Alonso was the superior driver in 2023
While Mike Krack has shed light on the dynamics between Aston Martin’s current driver pairing, Fernando Alonso proved himself as the superior driver last season. Stroll was not able to put in performances anywhere near the level of his teammate.
During the 2023 F1 season, Alonso managed a brilliant 206 points with eight podium finishes. He ended the campaign in fourth place but Stroll was only able to manage a disappointing tenth place finish with a mere 74 points.
