The Aston Martin Formula 1 team surprised people up and down the F1 paddock during the initial rounds of the 2023 F1 season. The outfit took the fight to the mighty Red Bull on occasion, but as the season has progressed, they have slipped down on the grid and are currently in a battle with McLaren for fourth place in the Constructors Championship.

The battle between the two outfits is fierce, and Lando Norris and Co. are only 49 points adrift of the Aston Martin F1 team. Mike Krack, the Aston boss, is well aware of the delicate situation in which his team is currently, and ahead of the Qatar Grand Prix weekend, he has taken the time to urge them to go all out to secure fourth place this year.

McLaren is right on the Silverstone-based team’s heels, and while urging his team, he told Motorsport, “Yes, 100 percent. That is very important. It is a bit of the opposite of last year. It is much more difficult for your morale if you have a good start and others overtake you, then vice versa. So it is very important for us to turn the tide.

We have yet to see what that ultimately leads to. But we have to reverse this trend.” Looking at the comments of Krack, it is quite clear that he wants his team to give their hundred percent in producing the best possible AMR23 for its drivers, Lance Stroll and the former 2-time Formula 1 world champion, Fernando Alonso. Only six races are remaining in the 2023 F1 season.

Aston Martin needs both its drivers firing on all cylinders

While Aston Martin is currently ahead on the 2023 Constructors standings, there is a good chance of them slipping down to fifth by the end of the Qatar GP weekend. Both of McLaren’s drivers are in red-hot form, but when it comes to the green-colored outfit, only Fernando Alonso has been carrying the burden of scoring points in bulk for the team.

The ongoing campaign is 17 rounds down, and Alonso has managed a commendable 174 points with a highly impressive seven podium finishes. However, when it comes to the exploits of Stroll, he has only managed a disappointing 47 points. The huge gap between the two drivers is one of the main reasons why McLaren has found itself in the hunt for P4.

The Qatar Grand Prix weekend is scheduled to take place from the upcoming Friday onwards, and considering this fact, it will be of immense importance to Aston Martin that they nail everything from the get-go. The fight between the two McLaren’s and Aston Martin’s will be a huge point of discussion at the Lusail International Circuit.
