Max Verstappen and Red Bull dominated the 2023 F1 season. The Austrian team had a historic run this year winning 21 of the 22 rounds. Fans hope for a more competitive pecking order next season as rivals work towards bridging the gap to Milton Keynes. However, Minardi F1 founder, Giancarlo Minardi believes that Red Bull might come back stronger in 2024.

Minardi reckoned that it was too early to believe that Red Bull would face stiff competition next year. The 76-year-old was convinced that it would take time for rivals to match the Milton Keynes-based team. Moreover, the Italian claimed that Max Verstappen might’ve tried to hide the maximum capabilities of the Red Bull RB-19 in 2023 courtesy of the massive advantage enjoyed by the Austrian team.

They have an advantage that I think is difficult to fill at the moment. Because by carefully analysing the 2023 races I got the idea that Verstappen never allowed us to see the maximum of his possibilities.

Subsequently, Giancarlo Minardi was concerned about Verstappen and Red Bull’s pace for the upcoming season. Additionally, the 76-year-old claimed that he has received news from the team’s base in England that the 2024 RB-20 will be a big improvement on its predecessor. It must be noted that the Adrian Newey-designed RB-19 was one of the most dominant cars in F1 history.

And then I get news from England that their 2024 car is even better.

Red Bull remain the favorites for 2024

The Austrian team started the 2023 season with a massive lead over its rivals. Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez were virtually untouchable in the early part of the season. With the Dutch driver having the most dominant campaign in the sport’s history. As the 26-year-old went on to win his third consecutive F1 world title.

Red Bull faced closer competition in the latter half of the season. The Austrian team had a disastrous weekend at the Singapore GP where Carlos Sainz took the only victory for a non-Red Bull driver in 2023. Moreover, Charles Leclerc was in contention for the win against Max Verstappen at the inaugural Las Vegas GP.

Nevertheless, Red Bull shifted its focus to the 2024 car mid-way through this year. The Austrian team is expected to make some major gains over the winter to further solidify its lead over the rest of the grid. However, it remains to be seen if any team can finally put an end to Max Verstappen’s dominant run at the pinnacle of motorsport.
