The start of the Spanish Grand Prix was no less than a chaos for Lewis Hamilton, with a lot of changes in front of the grid. Both the Mercedes were battling with the cars in front and made up one or two places. However, going into turn 4, Hamilton had an understeer which saw his left front tyre making contact with Kavin Magnussen’s car. 

Magnussen was soon seen going into the gravel, making his good start go to waste as he got at the back of the grid. 

Soon enough, Lewis Hamilton was asked to box because his tyre suffered a puncture.

Due to this unexpected pit, Hamilton went to the back of the grid as well, just somewhat ahead of the Haas of Kevin Magnussen. Fans took to Twitter and called Hamilton “most unlucky driver on the grid.”

Magnussen believed Lewis made contact intentionally

Quickly after both the drivers had to pit, Kevin Magnussen said that Lewis Hamilton could have avoided the contact and that he did it “intentionally.” 

However, the stewards reviewed the entire incident and stated that there was “no investigation necessary.”

Kevin Magnussen has been at the back of the grid since, and Hamilton has managed to overtake a couple of cars. 

Lewis Hamilton’s teammate, George Russell, on the other hand, had an amazing start to the race which saw him take P3 and carry it on until Max Verstappen touched the gravel on turn 4, too. 

Christian Horner stated that there was a gust of wind that was making the cars understeer. After this, George Russell has been holding up P2 battling the Red Bulls. 

In other issues, Max Verstappen has had DRS issues while battling George Russell for the position and he has been quite aggressive about it.
