Lewis Hamilton and the Mercedes F1 team have had a tough last two years in F1. Under the current regulations, the team has struggled to produce a potent car, and ahead of the 2024 campaign, F1 pundit, Natalie Pinkham has suggested that won’t be able to challenge for the title.
The Mercedes W14 proved to be an incredibly unpredictable car during the 2023 F1 season. Lewis Hamilton and George Russell had a tough time dealing with it. With the 2024 campaign, just around the corner, Natalie Pinkham has claimed that Mercedes is on the back foot with its W15.
Pinkham does not see Hamilton and Co. challenging for the title this year and while talking about it with The Express, she said, (H/T: Crash.net)
I hope it will happen. The trouble is: I think that Mercedes has been a bit on the back foot with changing the direction of their concept. And, I think it takes a regulation change, maybe, for them to come back to the fore.
Looking at the reaction of the F1 pundit, it seems that she does see the Toto Wolff-led Mercedes f1 team making a huge impact during the 2024 F1 season. She firmly believes the German outfit does not have what is required to challenge Red Bull this year.
Lewis Hamilton is contracted to Mercedes until the end of 2025
While Natalie Pinkman has ruled Mercedes out of the 2024 World Championship fight, Lewis Hamilton is desperate to have a go at the title. He was last seen fighting for it back in 2021 against Red Bulls Max Verstappen.
Hamilton, being a former seven-time world champion, wants to secure a record-breaking eighth world title. This is one of the main reasons why he signed a new deal at Mercedes unit the end of the 2025 season of the sport.
