Max Verstappen, the reigning F1 world champion, has been dominating the pinnacle of motor racing for the last few years. He has won three consecutive world titles on the bounce and while he is currently contracted to Red Bull until the end of 2028, Ferrari’s Fred Vasseur has kept the door open for him at the Italian outfit.
Ferrari currently employs two prolific drivers in the form of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. The future of the team is in safe hands at the moment but despite this fact, Fred Vasseur has indicated that a potential future tie-up with Max Verstappen is also a big possibility.
Max has a contract until 2026 with Red Bull. We need to focus on ourselves so as not to lose energy and work on our own things, thinking about who is on the team. It's not just a question of drivers, but we need to look at the whole. So, to date, it is not an aspect we need to discuss. But I also say: never say never.Vasseur said, as reoported by f1ingenerale.com.
Looking at the reaction of Vasseur, it is quite evident that he would be more than happy to have a driver of Max Verstappen’s caliber on the Ferrari F1 team. However, he has also stressed the fact that his team needs to focus on what it currently has so that the team can achieve its future objectives.
Max Verstappen is the hottest property in F1
While Fred Vasseur has admitted that he would like to have Max Verstappen at Ferrari somewhere down the line, if ever an opportunity arises where Verstappen is available in the driver market, there would most probably be several teams lining up to get the Dutchman’s signature.
Verstappen has very quickly risen to prominence since winning his maiden world championship and today, he is considered as one of the best drivers to ever step foot into the unpredictable world of the pinnacle of motor racing. Moreover, he is seen by many in the same class last that of the former 7-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton.
