Nico Rosberg, the 2016 world champion, dropped hints during Sky’s coverage of the final practice session at the Italian Grand Prix on a potential departure for Lando Norris from McLaren. These rumors have gained momentum, especially with the increased scrutiny of Sergio Perez’s performances.
However, Red Bull has consistently maintained that Perez’s seat is secure for the 2024 season. But Rosberg has now predicted a possible team switch from the driver in the 2024 F1 season. He said (H&T: CRASH): “Where’s he [Norris] going? Next year already, I hear there’s a switch coming.”
Speculation surrounding a potential partnership between Norris and Red Bull gained momentum during the Italian Grand Prix weekend. Norris openly acknowledged his willingness to team up with his friend Max Verstappen. These remarks have only fueled the speculation that Lando Norris, who has a contract with McLaren until the end of 2025, could potentially consider a move to Red Bull.
He said, “It’s definitely something I would be open to in the future, It’d be great to work alongside someone like that and, at the same time, see where I can stand against him. I’d be open to it. I invited him to McLaren the other day. So, if he wants to come any time, he’s very welcome.”

Zak Brown claims that McLaren will turn down any offers for Lando Norris till 2025

McLaren’s team boss, Zak Brown, has taken a resolute stance, making it abundantly clear that they have no intentions of parting ways with Lando Norris, thereby quashing any notion of him joining Red Bull as Max Verstappen’s Formula 1 teammate in the immediate future. This speculation persists despite Norris’s existing contract with McLaren.
In response to a query from Motorsport.com’s sister site Motorsport-Total.com regarding McLaren’s stance on releasing Norris, Zak Brown acknowledged McLaren’s clear stance that they are not entertaining any talk or speculation about Lando Norris switching to Red Bull in Formula 1, effectively pouring cold water on such rumors. He said,. “Correct. Lando will be racing at McLaren through 2025. For sure.”
Lando Norris is bound by a solid contract with McLaren, which runs through the conclusion of the 2025 season. This contract extension was inked prior to the 2022 season, securing his commitment to the Woking-based team.
