The future of the Belgian Grand Prix is uncertain, and the event may be axed for 2023.

The summer break for the current season of Formula 1 2022 is now coming to an end, and there is only a week left before the races resume. With only nine races left in the F1 Calendar for this year, the fight for the much-coveted-for World title has reached its peak as Charles Leclerc needs to be flawless to bridge the gap between him and the defending World Champion Max Verstappen.

As the Belgian Grand Prix is just round the corner, the Spa-Francorchamps circuit is gearing up to give the fans an unforgettable experience throughout the weekend. The Grand Prix has already been sold out, and even if this turned out to be the last time the F1 paddock visits Spa, the Circuit Director Vanessa Maes wants the race to be a memorable one.

But in the recent Grands Prix, there have been instances where the audience have been subjected to racial abuse and intolerance. To curb all that, the Spa-Francorchamps committee has imposed ten rules on the fans who will come to visit the Grand Prix during the weekend of 26-28 August.

The motto of Formula 1 has always been to promote humanitarian values such as equality amongst all, but there have been isolated incidents when the grandstands have erupted into fights due to racial differences, etc. But the committee heading the race at Spa-Francorchamps wants to avoid any such cases by prohibiting the fans from bringing objectionable items like smoke, alcohol or glass at the event.

As we are counting the days to the return of the F1 paddocks to the Spa-Francorchamps circuit for the historic Belgian GP, the circuit authorities have decided to declare some rules for those who would attend the Grand Prix during the weekend from 26th August to 28th August. The rules came as a post on the official social media page of the Spa-Francorchamps Circuit, and they have also put a ban on certain items to maintain peace and decorum in the grandstands.

Here are the rules that the fans are requested to follow:

  1. Have respect for everyone!
  2. No glass
  3. No smoke
  4. No weapons
  5. No alcohol
  6. Bikes are not allowed inside the circuit, park yours at the entrance to Blanchimont!
  7. No pets
  8. No barbecues
  9. No drones
  10. Don’t steal the signs

Only a few months ago, the Austrian Grand Prix saw an unfortunate incident where alcohol and smoke bombs were used by some of the fans in the audience. The homophobic discrimination and racism that ensued, many of the F1 racers expressed their concerns at how their fans were conducting themselves. And thus, the Belgian GP did not take any risk and decided to give out rules for the fans visiting Spa-Francorchamps for the weekend.
