Nyck De Vries, the AlphaTauri F1 driver, has been under immense pressure during the ongoing 2023 F1 campaign. He hasn’t been able to keep pace with Yuki Tsunoda and has got simply got outclassed. As the season is rolling on the pressure on him to deliver is increasing 10-folds but despite this fact, he has indicated that he does not bother himself with the outside noise.

Nyck De Vries secured a seat at AlphaTauri on the back of his good performance for Williams at Imola last year. However, since joining the Faenza-based team, his F1 season hasn’t panned out as per his or Helmut Marko and Co.’s expectations. Because of this reason, a lot of chatter in the F1 paddock is based around him these days.

Helmut Marko has recently given the 27-year-old an ultimatum to get his act together, but while talking about the outside noise, the latter told the Telegraph, “The wind changes so quickly here that it makes no sense at all to read it. I am only concerned with showing the best version of myself and I have not succeeded enough in that this season, I think.”

I am not guided by what others think of me or write about me. What someone says today or tomorrow may be different the day after tomorrow.  I can’t let that guide me, because then I would be on a rollercoaster all the time. After the first few race weekends this year I’ve realized that reading stuff won’t do me any good.”

While Nyck De Vries, on the one hand, has revealed that he does not give any attention to what people say about him, he has also on the other, mentioned that AlphaTauri is bringing some new parts on the AT04 for the British GP. While shedding light on it, he said, “If you look at the minimal differences last weekend at the Red Bull Ring, I think that is rarely seen in Formula 1.

The last few weekends have been a bit tougher for us as a team, so hopefully this will give us some more momentum. But it is always difficult to estimate in advance exactly how much speed it will bring us.” The Dutchman is unsure about how effective the new parts would prove to be, but he is hoping for the best.

The ongoing campaign is 10 rounds down, and Nyck De Vries is yet to open his account in the 2023 Drivers standings. AlphaTauri has scored only two points this season and it is all thanks to the efforts of his teammate, Yuki Tsunoda. Considering that Silverstone is a free-flowing circuit, would De Vries land be able his AT04 in the top 10 at the end of the race?
