Brad Pitt is part of Apple’s megaproject of a Formula 1 film. The film has some big names in its cast including the American actor with Skyfall actor Damson Idris in a lead role. The F1 film features a fictional 11th team on the grid named Apex GP with its car first spotted at Silverstone this week. Rumors had emerged that Brad Pitt would be leading the grid during the British GP formation lap.
The Hollywood actor was spotted driving the Apex GP car on the track in a stunning black and gold livery. The film will be showcasing modified Formula 2 machinery as the car for Pitt’s team. F1 journalist Giuliano Duchess had first tweeted that Brad Pitt would be driving at the front of the pole sitter during the formation lap of the British GP this weekend.
This news was seconded by renowned F1 photographer Kym Illman on Instagram. However, it was quickly dismissed with Illman altering the post caption shortly after. As per reports, the American actor will be driving the F2 car during the Pirelli tire tests scheduled for next week alongside Red Bull, Haas, and Williams.

Brad Pitt hits the track at Silverstone
The 59-year-old will be playing the role of Sonny Hayes in the movie. The film has already received its own garage in the Silverstone paddock between Mercedes and Ferrari. The British GP weekend is the first out of multiple race weekends where Brad Pitt will take the APXGP car on track. Although it is clear that no running during any Grand Prix sessions will be conducted.
The APXGP car at Silverstone gives fans a glimpse into this highly-anticipated film. The film is a massive undertaking with Lewis Hamilton‘s new production company Dawn Apollo Films spearheading the project. The authentic team garage and visuals from the weekend will certainly provide a real experience to viewers when it hits the big screen.
Thus, Brad Pitt’s fictional F1 team might be present in the pitlane at the British GP but it will not be participating in any sessions this weekend. Apex GP will have to wait until next week when Pitt can truly race in his modified F1 car during the Pirelli tire test. Fans will be looking forward to seeing some shots from Pitt’s actual on-track running next week.
