The common perception of the people says that Formula 1 is an elite sport that is not for the faint-hearted as it has death hiding at every turn of the racetracks, and the racers are all adrenaline-junkies who are brave and not afraid of anything. But at the end of the day, each of the F1 drivers are human beings who have their likings outside of the racetracks as well. In a recent interview with Oscar Piastri, his own team got to know the McLaren debutant up close and personal as he revealed some secrets fans might now know about him.
Netflix has become a massive name in the F1 paddocks thanks to the wildly successful docuseries on Formula 1–‘Drive to Survive’. The series gave millions of people all around the world to get an idea about F1, and it played a part in making this sport a household name across the US. When Oscar Piastri was asked if he loves watching the television, he admitted, “I love a Netflix binge. I’m all or nothing though so if I get watching something, I will be there for hours until I’ve watched the whole series.”
On the holidays when the F1 drivers get to visit their home, they usually keep away from practice and spend their time with loved ones. It is no different for Oscar Piastri. The Melbourne native said, “My girlfriend and I have watched some great series recently. Slow Horses was excellent and totally gripping. We’ve watched The Night Agent which I highly recommend, and we also loved The Last Dance, Narcos, Suits and Ozark.“
Oscar Piastri has a soft spot for spy thrillers
Most of the fans would think F1 racers would love to watch sports-related series, or something belonging to the genre of adventure. But Oscar Piastri claimed that he likes shows on espionage and internation tensions. He said, “In general, I’m a big fan of a spy thriller, whether that’s TV or cinema.”
In other news, Oscar Piastri will be returning to F1 after a long spring break for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. His first three races with McLaren were quite insignificant in terms of points, but he made good use of the opportunities at the Australian GP and scored some points at his home race.
