The F1 off-season provides drivers with a great opportunity to dabble in their interests apart from the high-adrenaline sport. While many drivers take a nice retreat with their partners or family members, others attend some significant sports events. Hence amidst the winter break, Oscar Piastri attended the Cavaliers vs Nets NBA matchup in Paris.
The Cleveland Cavaliers faced the Brooklyn Nets at the Accor Arena in Paris. The Cavaliers emerged victorious over the Nets in the City of Love. Oscar was spotted at this game. However, the McLaren driver did not support any particular team as the Aussie also wore a neutral outfit ahead of the game.
At the Arena, Oscar Piastri indulged in multiple media activities as interviewers spoke with the 22-year-old. The F1 rookie of the year even balanced a basketball on his finger in a similar media activity planned for him. Additionally, Piastri also met his fellow countryman and Nets player Ben Simmons. The McLaren driver uploaded a picture with him on his Instagram story.
Oscar Piastri asserted that he would win against Lando Norris in a one-on-one Basketball match
The 22-year-old was also questioned about his thoughts regarding matching against his fellow teammate Lando Norris in a quick basketball match. Over this question, Piastri did not mince his word and asserted that he would easily win against the Briton and that he’s got ‘no chance’ against the 23-year-old.
Me... Lando's got no chance, maybe in Golf he could beat me... But not in BasketballPiastri told tntsports.
Additionally, interviewers asked the Australian about his ideal five-man team from the F1 grid capable of playing well in basketball. To this, Piastri responded that he has previously played with Zhou Guanyu, and also the other tall drivers like Alex Albon, George Russell, and others. The 23-year-old also took a jibe at Yuki Tsunoda for being the shortest driver on the F1 grid.
Hence Oscar Piastri’s presence at the NBA game was widely loved and cherished by the fans. As the teams and drivers prepare themselves over the winter break, Piastri takes on his second season with McLaren as the driver after scoring a very impressive rookie season in Formula 1.
