Lewis Hamilton‘s shocking move to Ferrari in 2025 has been set in stone, with preparations already beginning at Maranello for the Briton. Hence, as the seven-time world champion will conclude his final campaign with Mercedes, multiple people have shared their opinions over the entire move. Amidst this, former Mercedes driver Paul di Resta has also spoken over the status quo.
Di Resta raised multiple questions over the Briton’s late-career switch in teams. The former Williams driver wondered if Hamilton was the right man to take a seat at Ferrari. Additionally, the 37-year-old asked if Maranello required a stronger personality. Regardless, these questions will be answered in due course of time as explained by the former F1 driver.
Is he [Lewis Hamilton] the right man? Time will tell. Do they need a stronger personality? That’s what we’ll be looking back at in 10 years time and saying, ‘Well, was that the right thing?’di Resta told sport.de.
Aside from this, di Resta asserted how Hamilton convinced himself to switch to the Italian constructor so late in his career. According to the Briton, something drove the seven-time world champion to seal the move to Maranello from the coming season onwards. However, the former driver deemed the move to be ‘great news for motorsport.’
But Lewis has obviously been convinced, he’s obviously been given security, he’s obviously been given something that’s driven him. I think it’s great news for motorsport. I think is great news for Formula 1 what’s happened to see him go in there
Lewis Hamilton made a big call by joining Ferrari
Paul di Resta was not hesitant to share his thoughts over the entire move. Di Resta mentioned that if Hamilton moved to Ferrari and won races and potentially the championship, it would be a great thing for the former world champion. Hence, the 39-year-old hopes for better opportunities at Maranello as he will conclude his final year at Brackley soon.
Apart from this, Fred Vasseur‘s presence at Ferrari would be helpful for the driver as the principal has worked with Hamilton in the past. Vasseur was the boss of the F3 side ART Grand Prix back in 2005 when the Briton emerged victorious in the junior category. Hence, the 39-year-old isn’t stepping into a completely new territory with this move to Maranello.
Lewis Hamilton aims to conclude his final year at Mercedes on a high. The striking new W15 would potentially produce great results and help the seven-time world champion compete for the title. Hamilton will attempt to maximize results and put forth a successful final campaign for the team in Formula 1.
