Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez were the stars of the 2022 Abu Dhabi GP qualifying session as they secured Red Bull’s 25th 1-2 finish on Saturday. What seemed to be a session that just kept giving. The team has dominated on track at almost every race this season and it wasn’t much of a surprise to see them do it against in Abu Dhabi for the last quali session for this season.
With Sebastian Vettel and Daniel Ricciardo leaving the sport after this race, it was nice to see them make it through to Q3. Sebastian out qualified Daniel Ricciardo and will be starting in 9th position on the grid for tomorrow. The Aussie driver will be starting behind him in 10th. For their last races with their respective teams, it’s fair to say that both the drivers did well.
Tomorrow’s race will be interesting as we have 3 different teams taking up the top 6 spots on the grid for tomorrow and that too in pairs. With Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez securing the top two spots for Red Bull. Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz are holding down P3 and P4 for Ferrari. Mercedes completes the top 6 with Lewis Hamilton out qualifying George Russell for 5th place.
Fans react as Max Verstappen grabs pole position at the final qualifying session of the season

Here is how the fan’s reacted to this obvious but still mind bending qualifier at Yas Marina.
Charles Leclerc and Sergio Perez will be fighting tomorrow for P2 in the championship. With both the drivers already par on points, whoever crosses the checkered flag first will win the fight for second place. Max Verstappen already sealed the championship a few rounds before in Japan. All he has to do now is cruise till the last lap and do some donuts to celebrate his incredible season.
With qualifying setting the order for tomorrow’s grid, it will be interesting to see how the race pans out. With Sebastian Vettel, Mick Schumacher, Daniel Ricciardo and Nicolas ‘Goatifi’ leaving the sport, it is gonna be a sad goodbye with the tears already flowing in the paddock all throughout the weekend.
