Only a week ago, just when the British Grand Prix was around the corner, Lewis Hamilton‘s Hollywood movie on Formula One became the talk of the town. The AppleTV project featuring Brad Pitt kicked off their shooting schedule at the historic circuit of Silverstone with huge support from the motorsports fans and also most of the drivers. Veteran commentator Martin Brundle even said he believes this movie will be F1’s next step towards reaching the public to increase their viewership.

The yet-untitled movie, helmed by Lewis as its producer, will find Brad Pitt in the avatar of an F1 driver, Sonny Hayes. Pitt will be accompanied by Damon Idris who is slated to take up the role of another racer, Joshua Pierce. The duo will be driving for a fictional 11th F1 team called Apex GP, and a full-fledged production for their project was kickstarted ahead of the British Grand Prix. Some modified F2 cars were brought to the tracks for Pitt as he did some laps for the shooting. In the end, he said he is fully committed to the movie and admires Lewis’ knack to look after every tiny detail concerning their project.

But now, it seems that all of Lewis Hamilton and Brad Pitt’s hard work has come to an unexpected standstill. Because of the ongoing SAG (Screen Actors’ Guild) strike, the production for the F1 movie had to be put on hold. The strike has been called for by most of the celebrities in Hollywood in support of the screenwriters who have protested against using AI for penning scripts for movies as the modern technology is taking away their jobs. According to BBC, it is the biggest strike Hollywood has seen in six decades.
