Lewis Hamilton was a whisker away to rewrite the history books but unfortunately, we were deprived of that moment because of that controversial decision by Michael Masi, handing a golden opportunity to snatch the title in the dying moments of the season and the race. Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen shared a terrific championship battle with both of them equally deserving to win the championship.

Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton had been utterly dominant coming into the 2021 season but Max Verstappen and Red Bull had also made giant strides and this was seen to be the season where they might challenge for the title. That’s exactly what happened with Max Verstappen matching Lewis Hamilton stride for stride and eventually going level on points into the title deciding Abu Dhabi GP.

It all started well for Lewis Hamilton as he comfortably lead most of the race. It looked certain that he was going to be Lewis Hamilton’s day, Michael Masi made a controversial call allowing Max Verstappen to overtake Lewis Hamilton on his fresher tyres. This didn’t go down well with most of his fans. PUMA, who are a Lewis Hamilton enthusiast, refuse to accept and labelled him as ‘8 time world champion‘ in their store in Prague.

That period was difficult for the seven time world champion who even considered calling it quits. In one of his interviews, he said, “I lost a little bit of faith” in the fair policing of Formula.”

“Of course, I think at the end of a season you think [about the future] and the question is whether you’re willing to commit the time, the effort it takes to be a world champion.

“But I am generally a very determined person and I’d like to think to myself… while moments like this might define others’ career I refuse to let this define mine,” as reported by espn.

Lewis Hamilton might have accepted the sequence of unfortunate events that might have happened with him but his fanbase seems to be sour and refuses to accept it.
