Mercedes are on the verge of witnessing another in-team rivalry. Lewis Hamilton and George Russell were once again involved in a dramatic incident in Qatar. Hamilton’s aggressive approach saw him running into Russell and eventually ending his race at the very first turn. Even though Russell finished the race P4, it was evident that both drivers were not happy. F1 pundit Ralf Schumacher has now urged Mercedes to intervene and settle the conflict before things further escalate.
Schumacher said that Mercedes threw away good points in Qatar. He said that Hamilton failed in his judgment of giving Russell enough space at the turn. He suggested that the incident might be a by-product of some underlying issue between the two. Ralf Schumacher said that the team will have to intervene as soon as possible if they don’t want the situation to go out of control.
“Lewis gives in too early and simply doesn’t give George enough space. The Mercedes were strong, they threw away good points. There’s a bit of work to be done between the two now. You can deal with each other either way, the team has to intervene now,” said Schumacher, as per Mirror.

Lewis Hamilton’s former teammate-rival Nico Rosberg downplays the collision
F1 circles have been buzzing with Hamilton and Russell’s incident in Qatar. Hamilton’s aggressive pushing in Qatar became the reason for a setback in his fight for P2 in the WDC standings. Hamilton, on softs, tried to go outside Russell on the first turn to take a good advantage.

However, Russell got sandwiched between him and Max Verstappen. This led to Hamilton’s rear wheel colliding with Russell’s front, ending Hamilton’s race. His former teammate Nico Rosberg analyzed the situation and claimed that it was not that big a deal, which people are making it out to be.
Rosberg said that it was just a misjudgment on Hamilton’s part and nothing more. He said that while the mistake was not very big, it did have big consequences. Rosberg said there was not much to discuss about the collision and was just a racing incident.
“There’s not that much to discuss – it’s relatively one-sided. He [Hamilton] was very fast and had a lot of grip. But then he misjudged something, he pulled in a little too early. The mistake wasn’t a big one, but it had big consequences,” said Rosberg.
