With the news of Carlos Sainz withdrawing from the Saudi Arabian GP making immense noise in the paddock, a young British lad in the name of Oliver Bearman took on the charge to make his debut in F1. Following this, multiple records could be broken by him if he succeeds in starting tomorrow’s race.
Sainz had to undergo appendicitis surgery after it was revealed that he had been feeling ill for the past week. Subsequently, this cleared the way for Bearman, who took pole for the F2 feature race and was given a sudden call to replace an ousted Spaniard.

Following this, the Brit is on the verge of breaking multiple records this weekend with Ferrari.
The 18-year-old would take the honor of being the youngest British F1 driver away from his compatriot Lando Norris. Also, the Brit would become the youngest-ever Ferrari driver, tipping a record set more than six decades ago. Lastly, Bearman would be the first Briton since the legendary Nigel Mansell.
Why did Ferrari choose Oliver Bearman?
The Maranello-based Ferrari outfit was met with a sudden situation to replace Sainz who had momentum on his side after clinching a podium in Bahrain. However, due to the sudden nature of the situation and Bearman being referred to as one of the prodigies in F1, the Scuderia decided to play a gamble and gave the Brit a chance.

Ferrari’s next star has a CV full of achievements. The Englishman won the Italian F4 championship in 2021. Moreover, the following year, Bearman bagged a third-place finish in F3 and got PREMA to sign him for the 2023 season. However, the Brit finished a disappointing sixth overall but had momentum on his side.
This year, Oliver Bearman aims to win the Formula 2 title in his second attempt at the series. However, with his recent once-in-a-lifetime chance to step into the SF-24, he would be looking to make the most of it.
