“Red Bull 1-2 in Ferraris backyard,” F1 Twitter reacts to Max Verstappen’s win and Charles Leclerc’s error in Imola GP

Max Verstappen wins the 2022 Imola GP

Red Bull’s Max Verstappen cruised to gain a comfortable victory in the 2022 Emilia Romagna GP. The Dutchman won his second victory of the season after starting in pole position. Verstappen also won the sprint race, and claimed the fastest lap of the race, gaining 34 points this weekend making him 2nd the 2022 Drivers Championship.

Sergio Perez claimed P2 after making a great start ahead of the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc. Leclerc’s spin resulted in the Monagesque damaging his front wing and slipping to 6th, resulting in Lando Norris finishing P3 and gaining a spot on the Podium.

George Russell was the star of the evening after making a fantastic drive starting P11 to finishing P4. He finished ahead of Valtteri Bottas. Both the Aston Martin drivers finished with points as Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll finished P8 and P10.

Max Verstappen in Imola

Max Verstappen claimed wins in the circuit that was adored by Ferrari’s Tifosi. Ferrari had a rather disastrous race and it started with Carlos Sainz crashing out in the first lap of the race after Daniel Ricciardo collided with the Spainiard. Then in the 56th lap of the race, Charles Leclerc lost control of the Ferrari and hit the barrier. The Monagesue was P3 whn the incident occured but eventually limped with a P6 finish.

Lewis Hamilton had another disastrous weekend finishing P13 while George Russell leaped his way to P4. Hamilton was blocked by the AlphaTauri of Pierre Gasly. Fernando Alonso suffered an early retitrment due to damage sustained on his bodywork. Meanwhile fellow teammate Esteban Ocon recieved a 5 second time penalty after an unsafe release on to Hamilton by his pit crew.
