Max Verstappen won the Bahrain Grand Prix on Saturday, kicking off his quest for a record-breaking fourth world championship. But the season-opening race was dominated by the Christian Horner controversy. The investigation into the Red Bull team principal has been a big discussion point in the silly season, and the non-transparent investigation and not-guilty verdict made things rough.
One day after Red Bull declared that Horner’s complaint had been dismissed after an internal investigation, an anonymous email containing messages that seemed to be from Horner was leaked. Although Christian Horner has been silent on leaked images. Jos Verstappen, father of Max Verstappen, in a recent interview, revealed his reaction to the Christian Horner saga.
The 51-year-old stated the tension is already in the team and could fall apart at any time. Jos Verstappen then stated the team can’t move in this direction. Jos then remarked that Horner was playing the victim card. Due to this various problems have arrived in the Red Bull paddock. Now Red Bull has responded to this claim by asserting that there is no division in the team.
There are no issues here. The team are united and we are focused on racing
A Red Bull spoksperson said, as reported by BBC
Can Red Bull’s internal war make Max Verstappen switch to its Mercedes?
Ford will replace Honda as the Red Bull engine supplier starting in 2026 and Max Verstappen, will be back in the Red Bull seat, but with a lot of questions in mind. There are rumors that Verstappen might look for a future outside of Red Bull despite having a contract till 2028. The ongoing Christian Horner investigation and lack of Red Bull team discipline, according to Jos Verstappen, can become significant factors. Mercdes’s Lewis Hamilton seat is reported to be one of those places Verstappen is exploring.
Helmut Marko an advisor for Red Bull Motorsport, and Max and Jos Verstappen, each had different ideas about what they thought ought to happen. Important corporate partners of Red Bull include Ford and Oracle, though it’s unclear which side of the fence they were on. With so many things happening in the Red Bull paddock, it could hurt the image of Red Bull and Max Verstappen. But Verstappen believes that Red Bull is his home. Also, his contract will be expiring at the end of the 2028 season with the Red Bull. The Dutchman is also setting new records in Red Bull.
It shows that the time has not arrived for Max Verstappen to go to Mercedes. When Verstappen was in the junior ranks, the German manufacturer expressed interest in him. However, Red Bull won out because the German team was unable to secure Verstappen a seat in F1 machinery at that time. It shows that Mercedes will be signing the Dutchman. But in the current scenario, it does not look like he will come to Mercedes.
