Max Verstappen is currently on track for his most outstanding season to date. The Dutchman has already sealed this year’s Drivers’ Championship with 14 Victories in 17 races with 5 Grands Prix still to come. The Driver has shown complete domination this year. Red Bull mechanic Calum Nicholas recently commented on the Dutch lion’s off-the-track personality and his fierce competitive nature.

The Red Bull crew member said, “I’ve always thought it’s odd to me that people can’t see sometimes how brilliant he is. When he’s in the garage, when he’s not in a race car, he’s one of us. And he really is. He engages with us just as you’d want any of your other colleagues to engage with you. Nicholas’s comment addresses the viewers who often often tout Verstappen as ‘rude’ and ‘arrogant’. He also stated that the 25-year-old is extremely kind off the track.

Nicholas added, “He’s kind, he cares about the people around him, and it’s brilliant. And I like the fact that he can get into the car and close his lid, and then he should be ruthless. You’re a sportsperson. We’re here to win, he’s here to win and I think it’s great that he’s able to switch between them both. And he really does.” Nicholas defending the World Champion and telling the world of his kindness is a warm sight. It is great to see this harmony inside the Red Bull garage. The team are putting up one of the strongest performances in history and it’s heartwarming to know that they do so ‘together’.

Replying to SpeedCafe.com, the 26-year-old said, “Of course, I want to win as much as I can. I know that from third place (Vettel) to second (Schumacher) is quite a big gap, so I hope maybe in my career I might end up somewhere there in the middle. That would be nice.” Verstappen’s laid-back reply seems fitting to the sheer amount of ease with which he has managed to win the 2023 Title.

Verstappen is just 1 Championship away from equalling Vettel’s 4 Title wins. Then it is an onward climb to beat the 7 titles of Hamilton and Schumacher. It remains to be seen how many the Red Bull driver will win henceforth.
