The Formula 1 Silly Season is well underway with multiple shocking news surfacing every day. Hence, just as Lewis Hamilton‘s move to Ferrari was digested by the fans, another shocking news regarding the team principal of Red Bull, Christian Horner has been brought to light. The 50-year-old had allegedly behaved inappropriately with a Red Bull crew member.
Following these allegations, Red Bull had already launched an independent investigation against the principal. Regardless, if the allegations were to turn out true, the team would need a replacement for Horner promptly. Amidst these developments, multiple people thought of Helmut Marko as the obvious choice to succeed in Horner’s footsteps at Red Bull.
However, reports suggest that Marko has no ambitions to take over the team as principal of Milton Keynes. Meanwhile, the Team Manager, Jonathan Wheatley could potentially fill the seat of Christian Horner as the team principal of Red Bull. Wheatley has been in Milton Keynes since 2006 quickly rising through the ranks and achieving the spot of Team Manager. Hence, the 56-year-old might be the best and obvious choice to fill up Horner’s seat.
Christian Horner has been working at Red Bull since 2005
The 50-year-old isn’t any newcomer to the Austrian constructor as the Principal has been working at Red Bull ever since its inception in F1. The team acquired Jaguar in 2005 and termed Horner as the Team Principal and the Briton hasn’t looked back ever since. Red Bull displayed some great seasons under the 50-year-old’s leadership in F1.
Christian Horner facilitated the team to score great seasons like Sebastian Vettel’s domination from 2010-2014. Apart from this, the team also has been dominating the world of F1 for the past three years alongside Max Verstappen. Hence, Horner has definitely seen the worst and the best days of the team and was loyal to the brewery manufacturing giant’s team.
Horner’s exit from the team would definitely severely sabotage Red Bull’s 2024 season and likely many more ahead. Hence, a quick and positive update is immensely necessary for the Orange army as Milton Keynes prepares for the chassis launch on February 15. The team will solve replacements and other issues shortly in case of Briton’s dismissal.
