Red Bull spill the beans on how Max Verstappen reacted to Lewis Hamilton’s unexpected Ferrari announcement

Lewis Hamilton‘s decision to join Ferrari in 2025, ending his Mercedes contract early, shocked the entire Formula One grid. Hamilton’s departure leaves a seat vacant at Mercedes. Replacing the most successful driver in sports history is a mega job for the team. Reigning champion Max Verstappen was mentioned among the suitable candidates.
But Red Bull Advisor Helmut Marko was quick to shoot down those rumors and assert that Verstappen is off limits. He also gave his verdict on Hamilton’s move, claiming the Englishman left because his team, was getting weaker. In the same interview, he also revealed how Verstappen responded to the Hamilton announcement. Marko Helmut said, “He found it amusing.“
Max Verstappen has given Red Bull their three consecutive world championship wins, starting with the triumph in the 2021 season. There is no doubt that the team is aiming to bring the fourth win home too and has goals of achieving more titles as the world champion currently has a contract with Red Bull that lasts till 2028.
Max Verstappen choked on his water as he thought of a prospective move to Mercedes
Recently the speculations of the World Champion’s possible move to Mercedes have been going around. While that might not be the actual case. During the conversation on one of the Twitch Lives’ with his friend Luke Bennett, Max Verstappen talked about his PowerPoint presentation.
Right after Verstappen said that Luke proceeded to say “ To Mercedes”. The Dutchman who was drinking water at the time, couldn’t hold his laughter, which ended up in him choking on his water. After the Twitch live ended the clip went viral, as fans found it hilarious.
As for now, Max Verstappen will remain with Red Bull until 2028. According to the team advisor Marko, the Dutchman’s move to Mercedes is ruled out given his complicated history with the team principal.
