Liam Lawson has been in the Red Bull pool of drivers for several years. He very recently made a few F1 starts for AlphaTauri this year in the absence of Daniel Ricciardo, and while he is not racing in the sport for the time being, he has revealed that Lewis Hamilton has been his childhood hero.
Lawson was asked to take up the mantle of driving the AT04 for a few races, and surprisingly, he did a terrific job. Since Qatar, he has been on the sidelines, and ahead of the upcoming Mexican Grand Prix weekend, he has talked about Lewis Hamilton on the official F1 Beyond the Grid podcast.
While talking about his journey so far and the influence of Hamilton on his racing career, Lawson has made it known that during his early days, Lewis Hamilton had the most influence on his career, and he saw him as a huge inspiration.
Of course, Lewis has been my hero, I also read his book when I was a child. He inspired me a lot. Red Bull was my favorite team when I was little, more than anything because of the colors of the car, that was what attracted me the most, but also because of the success they had. i supported the one who was at a disadvantage and that was Lewis with McLaren, he was a driver who inspired me, my favorite at that time.
Lawson said, as reported by Soymotor.
Liam Lawson will most likely be without an F1 drive in 2024
While Liam Lawson amassed immense applause for himself in the absence of Daniel Ricciardo at AlphaTauri, he was overlooked for a 2024 seat as Riccardo and Yuki Tsunoda‘s contracts were extended by one year. Moreover, the possibility of Sergio Perez getting sidelined at Red Bull for next year is also very low.
Considering everything, it seems very likely that the New Zealander would have to sit on the sidelines, at least for next year. Lawson has proved his mettle as an F1 driver in his recent outings, but there is just not any room for him on the two Red Bull-owned teams for next year. He would probably be seen on the pit wall of Alphatauri in 2024.
That was a rough one, we will learn from it

However, while Liam Lawson won’t be seen driving at the pinnacle of motor racing next year, he has caught the attention of several teams who could swoop in to bring him on board when a seat opens up. Despite the recent setbacks, Lawson is seen by several pundits as a good driver who is sure to secure an F1 drive in the near future.
