Sergio Perez has struggled for the last three races, failing to make Q3 in qualifying or secure the podium on race day. His title hopes are on the brink of disintegrating. However, having discovered that he is to be a father for the fourth time could prove to be a massive morale-booster going into the next few race weekends, as it helps him put his recent torrid outings behind him.

Perez’s race woes can mainly be attributed to his massive errors in qualifying. He went point-less at the Monaco GP after a Q1 exit. The 33-year-old failed to make a comeback at Barcelona the following weekend. He went out in Q2 and only managed P4 in the race. Canada followed a similar theme, where the Mexican missed out on another Q3 appearance, with his race day pace, not up to standards, ultimately securing P6.

He now has Fernando Alonso breathing down his neck, just 9 points behind him. Perez must now leave his difficult race weekends in the past and aim for the upcoming Austrian GP to be a fresh start. He stands 69 points behind the leader Max Verstappen, and while his title hopes are currently bleak, he can still make up some ground while also extending his lead ahead of Alonso.
