The 2023 season saw a stupendous performance by Red Bull Racing, mostly because of their ‘rocketship’ RB-19 and their marqueé driver Max Verstappen. The Austrian outfit did not yield an inch of ground to their rivals as they captured victories at all but one Grands Prix that were held last year. And a major chunk of the contribution towards Red Bull’s wins should go to their Chief Technology Officer Adrian Newey.
The Briton has revolutionized the F1 racecars by delivering back-to-back Championship-worthy challengers on behalf of Red Bull. But it has come to the F1 fans’ notice that at 65 years of age, Newey might step down from his role and then, Red Bull might find themselves to be in big trouble. But the Team Principal Christian Horner has claimed that there is not going to be any difficulty in viewing a future without Newey as the car designing wizard is not irreplaceable.
As per Auto Motor und Sport, Adrian Newey currently commands one of the three highest salaries at Red Bull. But soon, the post might be up for grabs as Newey is reportedly going to step down from his role as the Chief Technology Officer at Red Bull’s F1 team. He might focus fully on the RB17 hypercars at the Red Bull Technology Campus in Milton-Keynnes.
Budget Cap in Formula 1 might be the reason behind Adrian Newey’s exit
Adrian Newey might be one of the brightest minds currently at work in Formula 1, but his services come at a hefty cost. The Briton has designed the most advanced cars in the post-turbo-hybrid era that have catapulted Red Bull‘s success in recent times. But because of the budget cap issue, the development of the racecars is now restricted and Newey might not be able to bring his full arsenal of secret technologies into play.
AmuS suggests that the cost cap might be a big reason why Adrian Newey’s exit from F1 operations at Red Bull seems imminent. Once the 65-year-old leaves his job of helping Max Verstappen score more Championships, he will be seen reverting to another role under the umbrella of the Austrian team. He will focus on the development of the RB17 hypercars which Red Bull have committed to producing at their Technology Campus in their headquarters.
