Report: Haas eyeing a replacement for Mick Schumacher for next year after the German’s upsetting performance

Mick Schumacher

Michael Schumacher‘s son Mick Schumacher entered Formula 1, the most elite league of car racing, after he gained his super license in 2021. The Ferrari Junior Academy recruit has followed his father’s footsteps to sign with the junior academy run by the oldest and most successful F1 team in the history of the sport. And as a part of his 2021 F1 campaign, he signed with Haas F1, for the seat that previously belonged to Romain Grosjean.

As Mick Schumacher has already got a legacy of car racing in his family, and he has been the 2020 Formula2 World Champion, the fans expected great things from him even though he was driving for Haas, one of the few teams in the grid that has not been able to rank higher than the ninth position in the World Constructors’ Championship rankings, ever since 2018.

But in Mick’s debut year, Haas suffered a terrible blow like they have no encountered ever before. They finish an entire season in 2021 without scoring a single points finish in the races that were held in that year. Now, rumors are making their way into the F1 community that Haas is looking to replace Mick Schumacher for the coming season of Formula 1.

With Mick Schumacher’s poor performance in his rookie year, Haas have not been able to score any points in the entire 2021 season of Formula 1. Alongwith Schumacher, there was Nikita Mazepin, who fared equally poorly, and the team decided to terminate their contract with him amidst the Ukraine-Russia war.

In Nikita Mazepin’s place, Haas brought Kevin Magnussen, who wowed every Formula 1 fan by single-handedly scoring 15 points in the first four races of the 2022 F1 season. But Kevin Magnussen’s Haas teammate Mick Schumacher has not been able to score a single point till now.

In a shocking revelation, British journalist Joe Saward has said that there are some reports that Haas might be thinking of terminating their deal with Mick Schumacher in the upcoming F1 2023 season. But Mick’s saving grace might be that there are a dearth of Ferrari academy juniors right now, who might be able to take his seat, and he has got significant backing from the Scuderia, his father’s former team.
