Lewis Hamilton has shaken the pinnacle of motor racing to its core with his recent Ferrari announcement. He will be seen repping the red of Ferrari next year and while a lot has been said about it, ex-F1 driver, Roman Grosjean, has given his verdict on it.
Charles Leclerc has been the main man on the Maranello-based team since the departure of Sebastian Vettel in 2020. He has year after year gone on to hone his skills and is seen as the next world champion of the Ferrari outfit.
Roman Grosjean believes that Charles Leclerc will act as the perfect standard to which Lewis Hamilton would have to reach when he joins Ferrari. While shedding light on the same on his Youtube channel, he said, as reported by racingnews365:
So next to Charles Leclerc, that will be an interesting duo, exciting to see that one. Lewis is not afraid of challenges. When he started at McLaren, who was his teammate? Fernando Alonso, one of the most fierce, fast and competitive teammates you can have in F1. Leclerc will be a very good benchmark.
Grosjean with his comments, has made it pretty clear that going up against Leclerc will not be like a walk in the park for Hamilton. Moreover, has indicated that the Leclerc-Hamilton tussle will be a fascinating watch in 2025.
Charles Leclerc is an extremely fast racing driver
While Roman Grosjean has admitted that Charles Leclerc will be the perfect benchmark for Hamilton, the Monegasque today, is seen as one of the best drivers to ever step foot into the sport. Moreover, to date, he has managed to amass 5 wins, 30 podiums, and a highly impressive 23 pole positions. His last race win in the sport came in 2022 at the Austrian Grand Prix.
Leclerc is only 26 years old and this is one of the reasons why he was awarded a long-term deal quite recently. Ferrari sees him as their future and thus, does not want to see him leave to team in favor of a rival outfit.
