Scuderia Ferrari started off the 2023 season on the back foot behind Red Bull and even Aston Martin. However, the Italian team has improved significantly over the course of the year with major upgrade packages. Now, reports have emerged that Maranello will have a new direction for its 2024 challenger.
Ferrari switched to a design closer to the Red Bull RB-19 midway through 2023. However, Team Principal Fred Vasseur mentioned that the Scuderia will be making amends to its incorrect philosophy for the SF23. Subsequently, as per reports, the Prancing Horse would be developing a vastly different car for 2024 with little resemblance to the SF23.
The Italian team has spent the entire season trying to understand its underlying issues and learning from rivals. However, Vasseur had made it clear that Ferrari would not simply copy and paste Red Bull’s design. As such, engineers back in Maranello have been working round the clock to develop a new design concept for next season.
Ferrari remains the only non-Red Bull race winner in 2023
Max Verstappen and Red Bull Racing have dominated the sport in 2023. The Dutch driver has taken a staggering 17 wins this season with teammate Sergio Perez taking home two victories as well. However, Ferrari has been the only team so far this season to have defeated the Austrian team when Carlos Sainz emerged victorious in Singapore.
Certainly, Ferrari’s mid-season upgrades have allowed the Scuderia to fight at the front of the grid. However, the Italian team remains behind Red Bull by a significant margin with McLaren outperforming the Prancing Horse on several occasions as well. Nevertheless, Maranello has made good progress over the course of the season.

Now, Scuderia Ferrari would be aiming to bring in a quick car for 2024. The Italian team has been working on next year’s challenge for a while now with major progress on its design philosophy. However, it remains to be seen if the Prancing Horse can finally challenge the dominant Red Bulls at the start of the 2024 season.
