Borussia Dortmund admin intervenes after Sebastian Haller’s hat-trick leaves Vettel’s fans buzzing on Twitter
Sebastian Vettel and Sebastian Haller
Sebastian Vettel is an icon inside and outside of F1. Vettel is loved by fans across the world. He built his legacy by winning 4 consecutive world championships with Red Bull. However, in recent years, the German became known for his amazing personality. As such, by the time of his retirement, the entire paddock was a fan of this F1 legend. German Football club Borussia Dortmund found this out the hard way.
Borussia Dortmund recently posted a tweet, stating, “Seb!!!” This tweet was in appreciation of their frontman Sebastian Haller. Haller, who beat cancer recently, scored an incredible hat-trick in his comeback game in a friendly against Basel FC. However, this Tweet did not age well, as many users assumed it to be for the F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel.
Borussia Dortmund was forced to tweet a clarification regarding this incident. But, the club took the joke really well. The German club tweeted, “F1 Twitter this is our Seb, not yours,” signaling to the Sebastian Vettel fans about the Haller appreciation. But, the team also invited the F1 fans to stay and join in on the celebrations for Sebastian Haller as it said, “but you’re welcome to stay.” A class act from a sporting giant towards another sporting heavyweight.

Borussia Dortmund’s tweet confuses the fans after Sebastian Vettel’s visit to a BVB match
Social media is all about speculation. Hence it is no wonder that the BVB tweet caused a wide response from fans. Sebastian Vettel was recently spotted at a game of Borussia Dortmund. A picture from that incident had surfaced online when Vettel agreed to click a photograph with a young fan. Coupling this with BVB’s tweet can sure cause tons of rumors in today’s day and age.
Sebastian Vettel retired from F1 at the end of the 2022 F1 season with Aston Martin. Vettel is now free of a hectic calendar, giving the German plenty of time to spend with his family. Sebastian is also invested in raising awareness about major social issues in our society. Although, critics believe that the German will make a comeback to the sporting world as he fails to stay away from the sheer adrenaline. Surely, a role at Borussia Dortmund could have been exciting.
Unfortunately, that will not be the case. The speculation behind Borussia Dortmund’s tweet will not live up to the hope as it was simply a misunderstanding. Fans of both sports must have been disappointed as this crossover episode got cancelled in front of their eyes. Although, Sebastian Vettel is a reserved personality, his private life has always been a well kept secret. So perhaps it is possible for Vettel to take a new role in the future.
