Sebastian Vettel stayed away from the limelight since his retirement from F1 in 2022. However, the four-time world champion recently tested the Porsche 963 Hypercar. The German driver had always refused to dismiss the possibility of returning to the world of motorsport. Now, Vettel has expressed his opinion over potentially returning to F1.

The 36-year-old recently mentioned that he was yet to make a decision on racing at Le Mans with Porsche this year. Sebastian Vettel was asked if he would return to F1. The four-time world champion admitted that he was thinking and flirting with the idea of a comeback.

However, the former Ferrari driver highlighted that his children were worried that their father would be gone for many days if he returned to racing. Moreover, Sebastian Vettel admitted that he had enjoyed his retirement over the past one and a half years. As the 36-year-old spent time with his children.

Sometimes it’s the case that [one of my children] says: 'Dad, don’t do that, then you’ll be gone so much. I really enjoyed the last year-and-a-half and also really enjoyed the time with the children, hopefully, the children did too.
Vettel mentioned

Vettel left the door open for a comeback, stating that his mood could change in the future. Although, the German made it clear that he was happy as things stood in his life at the moment. The four-time world champion affirmed that he would know how to manage the hectic 24-race schedule if he was to race in F1 again.

Maybe the mood will change again, but things are still going very well at the moment. There are also 24 races and beyond that I know from my time how I would like to structure my job if I decided to do it.

Sebastian Vettel claimed that he had a phone call with Toto Wolff recently. The four-time world champion mentioned that the two discussed about the changes happening at Mercedes. However, the German driver highlighted that the topic of him replacing Lewis Hamilton was not specifically discussed. 

We spoke on the phone. Of course, we also talked about the fact that a lot is happening at Mercedes, but not specifically about the fact that I could take the [seat].

Certainly, Sebastian Vettel has reignited rumors of returning to Formula 1 after the Porsche Hypercar test. Mercedes could be a viable option for the German driver. However, the four-time world champion seems unwilling to come out of retirement for the time being. As such, fans might need to wait longer to see Vettel return to F1.
