There has been an upheaval at Red Bull ever since the start of February as the team is surrounded by speculations and controversy. The starting point was when the team principal Christian Horner was accused of inappropriate and controlling behavior, from there onwards the unrest was set in motion. The internal politics and power struggles going on at Red Bull, it didn’t take much time for speculations about Max Verstappen’s possible move to other team to arise.
However, the Dutchman has stayed firm on his decision to stay with the team. Ex-F1 world champion with Red Bull, Sebastian Vettel, was asked about the ongoing drama and possibility of Verstappen leaving. He believes there is no reason for Verstappen to make a switch when the situation is assessed with a sporting perspective.
There is of course a lot of unrest at the moment, but I think from a sporting perspective there is currently no reason for him to think about anything else.Sebastian Vettel told sport.de.
Red Bull has become unbeatable for the past three years. With their rate of winning, it is difficult for any driver from another team to come close to winning a world championship. Verstappen has claimed three championships in a row now, and with their new challenger RB20, there is reason for him to slow down. From the perspective of winning Red Bull is dominating and plans on doing so, hence Red Bull is the best option for the Dutchman.
Ralf Schumacher predicts Fernando Alonso as Max Verstappen’s teammate in 2025
The current second driver of Red Bull Sergio Perez will run out of his contract with the team at the end of this season. As per the speculations going around Red Bull might not extend their contract with the Mexican driver. The question that arises after that, is who would be the next teammate of the Dutchman. According to Ralf Schumacher, it could be Fernando Alonso.
Christian Horner has always been a very, very big fan of Fernando Alonso. There seems to be big intentions in the background to bring Fernando Alonso into the cockpit next year. There are these rumours, and these rumours and information are pretty good. If Fernando Alonso were to get Red Bull at the end of his career - the car with which he can win - Fernando Alonso obviously wants that.Ralf Schumacher said via sky sports.
Fernando Alonso runs out of his contract at the end of this season with Aston Martin, and being a part of the dominating team would be a dream come true for the Spaniard. The team will be able to provide him the car, that’s made for winning and podiums, and there is no doubt about Alonso’s potential. Verstappen and Alonso would definitely make an interesting pair.
