Aston Martin has surprised the F1 paddock with their strong results in the 2023 campaign. Fernando Alonso replaced Sebastian Vettel and made his Aston Martin debut in the Bahrain GP.  The 41-year-old shocked everyone with his brilliant drive and secured a podium finish at the season opener, he finished third behind the Red Bull duo. And just like that, three races later, Aston Martin has become one of the top F1 teams in 2023.

The team tried to conceal their excitement after the first race as the AMR23’s performance on other tracks was unknown. After the first three rounds, it is safe to say Aston Martin cracked the code. Fernando Alonso finished third in three consecutive races. This is a huge result for the team. It is their best start to an F1 season. Last season, Sebastian Vettel spent all the races battling in the midfield. He left the team after a two-year stint, and now Vettel has opened up on Alonso’s success with the team.

The four-time world champion competed for Ferrari after his Red Bull era, he then moved to Aston Martin for his final stint in Formula 1. Vettel announced his retirement last season. There are speculations that the 35-year-old regrets his decision to leave Aston Martin because of their successful result this year. However, Sebastian Vettel does not regret his decision. He said, “I think it’s very difficult to know what will happen next year. I don’t regret [leaving F1]. The first thing, of course, is joy, which is more important than anything else.”

Vettel further stated, “I know the team very well from the last few years and I’m happy that they are doing so well. That 2023 was going to be a better year than last season I think was obvious, because last year was pretty bad, so it was expected.” Sebastian Vettel admitted that he knew the 2023 season was going to be better for the team.

Irrespective of Aston Martin’s achievements this season, Vettel revealed he is happy with his decision. He gave serious thought to it before taking action.
