“I don’t care, I’m a fan of Hamilton,” Sergio Aguero snubs fellow Latin American Sergio Perez, backs Lewis Hamilton
Argentine footballer Sergio Agüero has said that he favors Lewis Hamilton the most despite Sergio Perez being the only Latin American racer in F1.

If Fernando Alonso’s performance can be termed as the most surprising incident of the current 2023 Formula 1, then the second-biggest surprise would be Sergio Perez‘s results. The Red Bull recruit has wowed all the fans with his masterful racing as he has been the only one to come even close to contesting the World Championship winner Max Verstappen. As of now, only 14 points separate the Mexican from his own teammate, and there will be more opportunities for him to aim for leading the points table as there are 18 more Grands Prix to be held.
After his resounding victory at the Azerbaijan GP, Sergio Perez had a newfound confidence as he claimed he would go for the Championship by competing with Max Verstappen for that. But, in Miami, the Mexican ran out of luck as Max climbed up the ranks from P9 on the starting grid, and took away the top place from Sergio.
At the Miami Grand Prix, several celebrities were present, including the former Manchester City footballer Sergio ‘El Kun’ Agüero. The Aztec hails from Argentina, and is a fellow Latin American to F1’s Sergio Perez, who is from Mexico. Thus, it would be expected of Agüero to back Sergio Perez in the run for the Formula One Championship, but when he was asked about his favorite racer on the grid, his response turned out to be quite surprising.
Sergio Aguero heaps his support for Lewis Hamilton, not Sergio Perez, despite Mercedes’ incompetent car

Despite being a Latin American, Sergio Agüero has spent a massive chunk of his football career in England as he still holds the record for being the highest scorer in the history of Manchester City. This might explain Agüero’s affinity towards Lewis Hamilton, who is of English origin, as the Argentine explained he supports the Mercedes racer despite Sergio Perez being the only Latin American racer on the current F1 grid. Agüero said, “I don’t care [about Sergio Pérez]. I was with Alonso and he told me that the car was very good, but I am a fan of Hamilton.“
In other news, Lewis Hamilton’s situation in the current F1 points table is not up to the expectations of his fans. The seven-time World Champion has managed to attain only one podium finish in the five races that have happened till date. But Mercedes is reported to bring new upgrades to their W14 at the Imola Grand Prix. So, it remains to be seen how the new fittings amp up the Silver Arrows’ performance in Ferrari’s backyard in the upcoming race weekend.
