Sergio Perez, the Red Bull driver, had a torrid time behind the wheel of the RB19 during the 2023 F1 season. Perez was nowhere near the pace that was set by Max Verstappen regularly but with the season being done and dusted, he has recently admitted that this year’s Qatar GP was his worst weekend in F1.
Sergio Perez has been competing at the pinnacle of motor racing for several years, but he only came under massive limelight after joining Red Bull. Since joining them in 2021, Perez has not reached the heights everyone expected him to reach especially considering, the 2020 season he had for Racing Point(Aston Martin).
While the 33-year-old has had setbacks after setbacks at Red Bull, he has shed light on his 2023 woes, and while talking about it with Soymotor, he made it clear that he was at an all-time low during the 2023 Qatar weekend.
Because Qatar was really the worst weekend I can remember in a long time, probably my worst in this sport. It was such a bad weekend that I really felt like: 'I can't be that bad, something is happening. When you have these back-to-back races, I feel like sometimes there's not enough time to analyze everything.
Sergio Perez needs a strong 2024 F1 campaign
While Sergio Perez has admitted to the self-doubt he had during the 2023 F1 season, the ongoing winter break is the time when he needs to get away from the sport for a bit and focus on himself. Perez has to be in peak physical, and mental condition next year to perform at acceptable standards.
Moreover, next year holds immense significance for him as his current Red Bull deal will come to a close at the end of 2024. There are already quite a few candidates in line for the 2025 seat and if Perez is not able to deliver next year, he will most definitely get sidelined.
Happy to wrap up the era of the RB19, a historic car for the whole team.

Finished with lots of laps and plenty of information to prepare for next year.
Time to rest a bit and enjoy time with my family.
Thanks everyone for a great year!

Former Red Bull driver, Daniel Ricciardo is one of the favorites to secure the 2025 Red Bull seat but it has been recently reported that he has a clause in his current AlphaTauri contract that would allow him to move to Red Bull in 2024 only. considering this, Sergio Perez can’t afford any major slip-ups.
