Sergio Perez was under immense pressure heading into the British GP weekend. The Mexican driver had been knocked out in Q2 during the past four races of the season. The 33-year-old needed to end this embarrassing streak of performances at Silverstone. Unfortunately, things have gone from bad to worse for Perez this weekend.
The Mexican driver failed to reach the Top 15 during Q1 at the British GP. The 33-year-old was at risk of being knocked out at the later stages of the session. Sergio Perez did not get a chance to complete his final run during the session after Valtteri Bottas retired his car at the end of the session, which forced double yellow flags in sector 2.
As such, Perez will be starting the race from P16 in the fastest car on the grid. It is again an embarrassing turn of events for the Mexican driver with a fifth consecutive poor result in Qualifying while teammate Max Verstappen continues his dominance. Certainly, Red Bull will be far from happy with this result. This also marks the third time when Sergio Perez has failed to make it out of Q1.

This is nothing new.” One fan wondered how the Mexican driver even managed to be knocked out in the session. The user replied, “How do you go out in Q1 in the rocket ship?!!?
Moreover, one user shared a clip of F1 drivers expressing their lack of surprise over Perez’s failure to have a decent Qualifying performance. On the other hand, some fans mentioned the perfect replacement for the Mexican driver at Red Bull in the form of Daniel Ricciardo. One fan said, “Perez has to go. just put Ricciardo in that car instead.” Another user stated, “Put Daniel in that 2nd car.”
Sergio Perez has again had an unacceptable Qualifying performance making it five in a row for the Mexican driver. The 33-year-old is already facing the heat at Milton Keynes with this result only making matters worse. It remains to be seen how Red Bull bosses Christian Horner and Dr. Helmut Marko react to this disappointing performance.
