Sergio Perez has been facing a difficult season after the mid-season break. Perez has not been able to reach Q3 for five consecutive races now. The Mexican racer is overshadowed by his dominant teammate Max Verstappen, who won the championship title at the Qatar GP. Perez is looking hopeful for a ‘comeback’ at the COTA GP.

Ahead of the COTA GP, Perez assured that he could perform his best in the United States. He added that the Texas GP and his home race, the Mexico City GP, are his favorites. Perez said, as reported by Prime F1, “Austin and Mexico are two of my favorite weeks of the year. I have incredible support in both places, and that means a lot to me.” Perez also added, “I am sure I can perform at my best in the United States.”

Perez said that he was at Milton Keynes the past week working with the team for a better result and his preparedness before the race. “I was at Milton Keynes last week working very hard with the team to make sure we are as well prepared as possible.” He also said that the team worked on what had gone well and where they could improve. Perez said, “I spent time with my engineers to make sure we knew where we had gone well, where things had gone wrong, and how we could improve.”

Sergio Perez believes that he still has a lot to offer

The Mexican is aware of his ill performance. He emphasizes the importance of having a ‘good year’ for the season of 2024. Perez showed hope that he could potentially re-sign the contract with Red Bull for the season of 2025. With five races remaining this season, Perez needs to up his game to extend his lead over Lewis Hamilton.

Moreover, Perez added that he has a lot to offer and that he wants to be in Formula 1 for a couple of more years. He added that he has the motivation required to continue in the sport for many years to come. The 33-year-old also said he wants to be in the sport for three to four more years.

The team boss, Christian Horner, also commented on the performance slump for Perez. Horner said that Perez needs to ‘desperately rediscover’ his form to cling onto his lead over Hamilton and finish P2 in the championship standings. Regardless of Perez’s result, Horner confirms to the media that they will continue to support Perez.
