Sergio Perez’s start to the Hungarian GP race weekend has been one to forget. The Mexican crashed out of FP1 after just six minutes, bringing out the red flag. As this dry run of performances continued, Perez answered the conspiracy theories that claim the Mexican is being sabotaged by Red Bull for Max Verstappen.

The 33-year-old disregarded the conspiracy as speculation. Sergio Perez stated that he and his teammate Verstappen drive the same car. The Mexican also said it is in the team’s best interest for both the vehicles to be at the top rather than just Verstappen outperforming everyone.

“It is crazy what is being said. My car and Max’s car are the same. And they haven’t touched my car, that’s impossible. The team’s interest is to have both cars up there every race. It’s crazy what is being said. There is a lot of speculation,” Perez told Mundo Deportivo.

Although Red Bull has already announced that Perez won’t be replaced for the 2024 season, the pressure keeps building up for the Mexican. The team is very frustrated with the crash in FP1. Amidst various speculations regarding his place at Red Bull, the 33-year-old will be looking to turn things around before it is too late, starting with the qualifying today.

Sergio Perez stands at 2nd position in the Driver’s standings, leading Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso by a fragile lead of 19 points. As Alonso closes this gap, Perez shows his admiration for the Spaniard. The Mexican also talked about his retirement.

Perez remarked that Alonso is a person who lives for sports. He believes that F1 requires motivation and strong will, both of the traits possessed by Alonso. He also claimed that he does not see himself competing at this level till he turns 42.

“What Fernando is doing is crazy. Is incredible. He is a pilot. He is a person who lives for sports. He is something incredible. I don’t see myself at 42 years old in Formula 1. I have many other things to do. You never know where fate takes you, but I think the important thing in F1 is to have the motivation and be 100%. Fernando has it and how good for him,” said Perez.
